چکیده
The present study aimed to systematically observe the change of vanilloid receptor 1 (VR1) during inflammatory nociception induced by intraplantar injection of complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) into the left hind paw in rats. Hot plate latency (HPL) was used to evaluate resulting thermal hyperalgesia and immunohistochemistry to observe VR1 expression in dorsal root ganglion and spinal cord dorsal horn. Results showed that HPL decreased from day 1 to day 28 after CFA injection, with shortest at day 14. VR1 expression correspondingly increased from day 1 to day 21 with peak at day 14, and returning to the control level at day 28. A shift of VRI expression from small to medium DRG neurons over the observation period was seen. These results suggest that VR1 could play an important role in the early stage, but not the late stage, of CFA inflammatory nociception.

The role of TRPV1 in different subtypes of dorsal root ganglion neurons in rat chronic inflammatory nociception induced by complete Freund's adjuvant
BACKGROUND The present study aims to investigate the role of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons in chronic pain including thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia. Chronic inflammatory nociception of rats was produced by intraplantar injection of complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) and data was collected until day 28 following injection. R...
متن کاملThe stress protein heat shock cognate 70 (Hsc70) inhibits the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) channel
BACKGROUND Specialized cellular defense mechanisms prevent damage from chemical, biological, and physical hazards. The heat shock proteins have been recognized as key chaperones that maintain cell survival against a variety of exogenous and endogenous stress signals including noxious temperature. However, the role of heat shock proteins in nociception remains poorly understood. We carried out a...
متن کاملThe Role of C Fibers in Spinal Microglia Induction and Possible Relation with TRPV3 Expression During Chronic Inflammatory Arthritis in Rats
Introduction: Stimulation of peptidergic fibers activates microglia in the dorsal horn. Microglia activation causes fractalkine (FKN) release, a neuron-glia signal, which enhances pain. The transient vanilloid receptor 1 (TRPV1) mediates the release of neuropeptides, which can subsequently activate glia. TRPV1 and TRPV2 are generally expressed on C and Aδ fibers, respe...
متن کاملNK-1 and NK-3 type tachykinin receptor mRNA expression in the rat spinal cord dorsal horn is increased during adjuvant or formalin-induced nociception.
Substance P (SP) and other related tachykinins such as neurokinin B (NKB) have been studied widely as mediators of sensory information. The release of SP into the dorsal horn of the spinal cord is increased during nociception, and SP activates nociception-specific dorsal horn neurons. The tachykinin NKB has antinociceptive effects in the spinal cord and is contained in intrinsic spinal neurons;...
متن کاملActivin C expressed in nociceptive afferent neurons is required for suppressing inflammatory pain.
Emerging evidence suggests that the suppressive modulators released from nociceptive afferent neurons contribute to pain regulation. However, the suppressive modulators expressed in small-diameter neurons of the dorsal root ganglion remain to be further identified. The present study shows that the activin C expressed in small dorsal root ganglion neurons is required for suppressing inflammation...
